20th of October saw the launch of our very own Motivated Minds wellbeing hub in Basildon, Essex. The space which is kindly donated by local healthy sandwich and coffee shop, Char-Latte is situated right in town, near Toys 'R Us. On the day, Basildon Mind joined us as we enjoyed some lovely sunshine as passers-by we’re greeted with a friendly hello. The turn-out was also made even more fabulous with visits from Parkrun, S6 photography, Gateway Radio, NHS, Cllr Andrew Gorden, Cllr Mike Le Surf, Mayor Mo Larkin, and ambassador to Motivated-Minds, team GB Para-Olympic hopeful Matt Hamilton.
The hub is a well-being training and resource centre, and aims to inspire and support individuals to achieve and fulfill their potential whilst living healthier, happier lives. This is to be partly achieved through workshops covering topics such as: mental health awareness, physical health promotion, confidence, mindset, leadership and generational differences in the workplace to name a few. In addition the hub will also be a centre for individuals to come together to set up projects for the community, for example a support group for teenage foster children.
We were very lucky to also be supported by Palmers Solicitors, Toni & Guy, and a very generous individual who did not want to be named, who all donated some lovely gifts to our raffle. We had some very surprised and thrilled winners, and it was a pleasure phoning them and delivering good news.
