Bringing the spirit of Christmas to those in need

2024 Operation Elf is now in its 9th year! Spreading the joy of Christmas to people across the Basildon Borough who need a smile at what can be a tough time of year. Three main initiatives are executed with passion and dedication from a community filled with kindness. 

Christmas Meal

Our annual Christmas Meal provides not only amazing food but real Christmas cheer to those  who would be spending it home alone. Filled with laughter, singing and a few surprises the afternoon will be enjoyed by all. 

Christmas Card Cheer

Not everyone can get out, and so many are home alone with little family or network of friends. So, we send heartfelt cards to all who will enjoy the cheer of receiving a card create with the spirit of Christmas cheer.  

Secret Santa

Giving the gift of Christmas and make someone smile ear to ear. Choose to buy a gift for a child under 5, 5 - 10, teens or adult.  Bring your gift into the Happy Hub, pick a tag and hand it a member of staff to wrap and deliver.

If you would like to nominate someone, complete the form below with information stating why you nominate them and how we might be able to help. Please note, we do absolutely everything we can, but it is not always possible to grant all wishes as some years we are overwhelmed with requests for christmas dinners and gifts. We work on a first come, first served basis. However, everyone nominated will at the very least receive a card/letter if you provide their address.

We know, we know, you want to get involved. Each year, Operation Elf wouldn't be possible without the magnitude of support from our wonderful community and team of volunteers. So, here are just some of the ways you can get involved:

  • Sponsor a Christmas Meal for £20
  • Donate a gift towards our raffle, or why not buy a ticket. 
  • Write a heartfelt card, why not add your favourite recipe or poem
  • Buy a gift for Secret Santa
  • Decorate the HAPPY Hub (6th Nov)
  • Help with deliveries
  • Nominate someone
  • Buy us some stamps
  • Volunteer for us
  • Make a donation
